Volunteering

Our branch is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who want to help the cats in need in our area. We don't have an office; our volunteers undertake cat work, answer enquiries and emails, and deal with answerphone messages in their own time and mainly from their own homes. We appreciate the tremendous support and effort of our volunteers, who give up their time around their careers, families and other commitments to help Cats Protection Bournemouth and District.

If you would like to join us, and make a real difference to helping cats in need in our area, please get in touch, either by calling us on 01202 946 303 or emailing us at coordinator@bournemouth.cats.org.uk.

Thank you.

Further information about what we get up to can be found on our fosterers, home visitors, administrators and fundraisers pages.

Volunteer fosterer

Across Cats Protection there are thousands of cats and kittens needing temporary homes until they find their forever families. Many of our feline friends are cared for by volunteer fosterers in their homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Most of our volunteer fosterers care for one or two cats at a time, which makes a huge difference and gives these cats a second chance at a happy life. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need.

Fundraising events organiser

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events. They support a team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to help our feline friends. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

Volunteer welfare team leader

Without the passionate and committed teams volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. Our welfare team leaders have the important role of co-ordinating, encouraging and supporting teams of volunteer fosterers and cat care volunteers. They help make sure other volunteers with direct cat care roles are happy and confident and provide advice and guidance when needed. This incredible teamwork means we are able to help more cats and kittens in need.

Volunteer Secretary

At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated volunteer groups. These groups of passionate individuals all help our feline friends in different ways. They take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve, help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our volunteer secretaries provide the support that helps our volunteer groups run smoothly. They make a real difference to the lives of our feline friends by helping maintain positive communications, supporting others, promoting the work of Cats Protection and signposting queries from members of the public.
